Scroggins’ children get hands dirty while earning Head Start

Published:

Kari Scroggins was keeping the newest addition to her family insulated from the chilly winds that were blowing across the Verde Valley Thursday, Jan. 22.

Ruby Rose, just 3 months old and sporting a stylish hat with a flower on it, was crying a bit but that comes with the territory of just being born and not able to talk yet.

Ruby Rose was named after her great-grandmothers, both on Scroggins’ side and her husband’s.

She’s Scroggins’ second child. Thomas, her first child, is in kindergarten this year. Thomas would tell you his name is Tommy, however, Scroggins said.

“He likes it and he’s doing really well,” Scroggins said. “I’m really proud of him.”

Tommy loves his new sister, Scroggins said, although he’s still coming to terms with sharing the spotlight.

“He’s not getting all the mommy time like he used to,” Scroggins said.

Scroggins said she has no problems letting her kids get out and play, and that having a second child isn’t a lot different for her than having the first.
