Chamber gets a second chance

Published:

The Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce is getting a reboot.

Tom Pitts, a local resident who has long been active in Verde Valley affairs, is working to get all the ducks in a row in order to restart the local chamber.

Pitts has headed up the Jerome Chamber of Commerce, worked on the regional tourism council, local economic organizations and the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, among other groups and organizations.

The chamber, as of a few years ago, was provided several thousands dollars from the Town of Camp Verde and had its own office.

More than 30 years ago, most local businesses in the lower Verde Valley were members of the Verde Valley Chamber of Commerce, based out of Cottonwood.

Some of those local business people felt like they needed an organization that better served their interests. That’s why, on Jan. 28, 1981, in part with the leadership of locals like Red Finch, the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce incorporated as its own entity.
