Dan Wall hopes the roller-coaster ride is over at Camp Verde High School.

But the Cowboys head boys basketball coach faces back-to-back road games and only three more home games to get to the Division III, Section 3 postseason tournament after losing with a shorthanded squad Friday, Jan. 9, by 30 points to Chandler Preparatory Academy at CVHS.

The girls team, ranked third in Division III in the latest Arizona Interscholastic Association power rankings, have enjoyed a much smoother upward ride courtesy of a three-game winning streak.

In the process, head coach Mark Showers’ varsity — undefeated in divisional play — avenged its first loss Dec. 5 to Estrella Foothills High School in the Phoenix Country Day School Desert Classic in impressive fashion, blowing out the Wolves at home Jan. 9, 57-36.
