City accepts old Christmas trees

Published:

Christmas came, the goose got fat and what one did with their pennies is their own business.

However, if the Christmas tree is still up in the living room, it may be time to consider taking it down.

Many people prefer real trees to celebrate the season for many reasons but the longer it stays up, the more needles will need to be swept up off the floor.

While an actual tree might not be something you can just casually toss in the trash can, the city of Cottonwood is once again stepping up to help take the trees and put them to use.

Instead of picking the trees up at the street, the city is asking people to bring them to a designated drop-off point.

This year, the location has changed.

Trees can be dropped off at the city’s reclaimed water station at 1490 W. Mingus Ave.

That’s up the hill on the airport side of State Route 89A.

The trees will be chipped up into mulch and debris which the city will use for various purposes, according to Kelly Jobe with the Cottonwood Public Works Department.
