Looking Good contest trims fat for new year

Published:

The desire for self-improvement can be a powerful motivating force to work toward making changes for the better.

A little financial incentive certainly can’t hurt either.

It’ll soon be time to kick off Looking Good Cottonwood, an annual contest to see who can lose the most fat over the first several weeks of 2015.

Registration for the event lasts through Monday, Jan. 5, at the Cottonwood Recreation Center, 150 S. Sixth St.

People can still register for the contest after that, but it will require an additional fee of $5.

Until then, registration is $15 for members of the rec center and $30 for non-members.

Groups of five carry a $25 fee in addition to the registration fee.

Of course, participants don’t just pay the fee and go about losing the weight on their own.

The rec center is there to help with group exercise classes and seminars, said Trevor Faust, fitness center supervisor with the parks and recreation department.
