A sectional winning streak lasting virtually a year ended how it began Thursday, Dec. 18, for the Mingus Union High School girls soccer team.

A rebound goal off of a low clear by the Marauders defense got past junior goalkeeper Kylie Hudson in a 1-0 home loss to Northwest Christian High School.

While the Marauders boys team remained unbeaten in Division III, Section III with a 2-0 road win over the Crusaders on a rainy Dec. 18, girls head coach Buddy Rhodes did not blame their loss on Hudson, who has allowed a total of three goals in six games.

The boys will remain undefeated in section at least until Wednesday, Jan. 7, when North Pointe Prep comes to Mingus [4-1] at 5 p.m.

The girls, however, can start a new streak Monday, Dec. 29, during their holiday tournament, the Arizona Soccer Showcase. Their first opponent is Northwest Christian at 11 a.m.
