Ball helps two families

Published:

The Camp Verde Fire District Auxiliary recently held a charity ball that raised thousands of dollars for two local families in need.

The auxiliary is a nonprofit group that works through the Camp Verde Fire District to help raise funding to support local firefighters and the community.

Jared Bucey had a heart transplant as an infant. Today he is a student at Camp Verde High School.

Not too long ago, Bucey was diagnosed with post transplant lymphoproliferative disease.

The disorder requires Bucey to undergo chemotherapy. According to a site set up to collect money for Bucey’s treatment, his parents work full-time to help support his care, which includes regular trips to Phoenix.

Bucey’s mother, Lisa Diacik, had to take off time and used all of her sick and vacation days.

An account has been set up for donations in Bucey’s name at the National Bank of Arizona.

Hal Huey, 71, died recently after fighting for his life for more than two months. Huey had survived a serious vehicle accident July 21 off Beaver Creek Road in Rimrock. The accident caused him to lose his left hand, according to the auxiliary.
