Camp Verde High School’s boys and girls soccer teams are playing the final two weeks of the regular season with one thing in common.

“We’re pretty much taking it one game at a time,” agreed both boys head coach Dave Miller and girls head coach Pat Allen.

A combined seven games in two days Friday through Saturday, Oct. 3 through 4, turned out better for the girls — who went 2-1 — than the boys, who won only one game out of four at the Old Pueblo Classic in Tucson.

The girls [4-4] seek to solidify their No. 7 seed in the Division IV state tournament by the time quarterfinals open Thursday, Oct. 30. The injury-riddled boys, winless in regular-season play, have adopted a new formation to win as many of their final five games as possible.
