Mingus Union High School didn’t play all that badly against visiting Bradshaw Mountain High School — they outscored the Bears 14-13 in the second half — but the Marauders were never really in the game, falling 34-14 Friday, Sept. 26, at Bright Field.
Any momentum the team may have had from its dominating 40-14 win the previous week over North High School was trampled by the Bears’ running attack.
“We couldn’t stop the run,” MUHS coach Bob Young said. “We were down 21-0 because we couldn’t stop the run. It’s going to be a long night if you can’t stop the run.”
But, he added, “We didn’t quit; we won the second half. We’re proud of that.”
It was the first section game for the Marauders, whose overall record dropped to 1-4.
