Juniors Caleb Furey and Sean Williams combined to win four events as well as two 200-yard relays as the Mingus Union High School boys swimming team won its first meet under head coach Gretchen Wesbrock on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Cottonwood Outdoor Pool.

“Sean and Caleb swim pretty fast relays,” Wesbrock said. “Gunner Tillemans came from the Orme School this past year. He’s got some get up and go in him. They really help the men’s relay, along with Justis Byrd. I’m quite excited.”

Excited also, as new head coach, to have five freshmen besides Tillemans to work with, including 400-yard freestyle relay swimmer Emily Grasso, who teamed up with sophomores Sarah Bramblett and Anissa Zorrilla and junior Christine Wills to finish third for the girls team, led by senior Leah Mount, who won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.
