Volleyball ready to end roller coaster

Published:

If there is any ride the returning Mingus Union High School volleyball players are used to, it’s a roller coaster.

Three seniors return to a Marauders varsity that put its wins — and its losses — together in threes last fall, losing three straight to begin and end the season to ultimately finish 11-12 overall and fifth in Division III, Section III.

“The best thing we can do is play our game,” head coach Amanda Puckett said, “and to be making sure we’re not making mistakes, but doing the things we can control.”

With a younger but scrappier team than last season, according to Puckett, eliminating unforced errors is going to be even more critical to any MUHS state tournament berth — particularly going into a matchup Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. across the Verde Valley at Sedona Red Rock High School after a season-opening loss at Prescott High School.
