Y-A Nation Transit is open to all

Published:

Yavapai-Apache Transit would like to clear up a few things about its recently implemented services.

The agency is running passenger buses between the Middle Verde and Clarkdale reservations along the State Route 260 corridor, vehicles similar to the buses that operate under the Cottonwood Area Transit-Verde Lynx system.

The system also makes stops in other places along the way.

The bus routes to connect the opposite sides of the Verde Valley have been in operation since earlier this year.

“We’ve been up and running and we’ve been getting some feedback,” said Diana Bonnaha, transportation director for the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

Bonnaha said that there was apparently a lot of misinformation out there about the new transit service.

“The majority of the community seems to think we’re only serving tribal members,” Bonnaha said. “Or that we’re just some sort of casino bus.”

None of that is true, Bonnaha said.

“Our service is available for everyone,” Bonnaha said.
