Glider pilots swoop into Cottonwood airport

Published:

Last weekend, people targeted Cottonwood from the skies and descended on the town.

It wasn’t dangerous, however, as everyone came to have a good time.

Members of the Touring Motor Glider Association flew into town last weekend for their sixth annual gathering.

The group is international and chooses a different place to meet every year.

The members are all connected online but get together whenever possible to show off their gliders and tour part of the country from the skies.

Motor gliders can take off under their own power and then switch off the engine and eventually glide back down to Earth.

Some members of the group came from as far away as Florida and Maine, a trip of several days floating through the skies.
