Town may rename Finnie Flat Road

When headed toward Camp Verde from Interstate 17 along State Route 260, Finnie Flat Road is the first road that will take drivers into town. Finnie Flat eventually turns into Main Street, and Main Street continues until it intersects again with State Route 260, forming a big horseshoe. Camp Verde is contemplating renaming Finnie Flat Road to Main Street.

The Camp Verde Town Council opened discussion last week about whether or not to change the name of Finnie Flat Road to Main Street.

Mayor Charlie German requested that the topic be brought up, although he was not at the April 2, meeting of the Town Council.

“[Mayor German] thought it would be the start of a good discussion,” Vice Mayor Jackie Baker said.

A committee of residents has been working on adopting “character areas” for the town, places where planning is based on a particular area’s identity and feel, in preparation for a new general plan for the town.
