Kids outgrowing after-school space

Children play at Cottonwood Recreation Center’s after-school program. The program provides a safe place for kids to go after school with lots of fun activities and assistance with homework. The program is outgrowing the space available, and is trying to partner with Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District to allow for more comfortable expansion.

The Cottonwood Parks and Recreation Department has been running an after-school program that’s grown in popularity.

The department is now exploring a partnership with the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District to help hold the program at Cottonwood Elementary School.

The program, held at the Cottonwood Recreation Center, involves about 30 students.

“This impacts the recreation center in terms of traffic,” according to a report from the Cottonwood Community Services Department. “While staff is adapting we feel certain changes should be made.”
