Clarkdale became the fifth municipality in Arizona to recognize civil unions last week after a unanimous vote from the Town Council at its Nov. 12 meeting.
The rules recognize partnerships, same-sex and heterosexual, as long as they are registered and the people involved are at least 18 years old.
The move makes it the third town in the region to recognize civil unions.
Jerome and Sedona have already recognized civil unions earlier this year, joining Tucson and Bisbee, the first two cities to approve such an ordinance.
