Cowboys track & field teams start well

The Camp Verde High School track and field teams started the season off well in Division III.

The Cowboys competed in the Wickenburg Multi Meets, the first one Feb. 27, and the second one Wednesday, March 6 at Wickenburg High School. In the first meet, the girls placed first out of eight teams with 146 points, followed by Chino Valley with 123.5 points. The boys team placed fourth with a score of 58.

The girls were led by the same dynamic senior trio that powered the school’s volleyball and basketball teams: Amanda Showers, Donnie Buss and Katie Wilson.

Showers placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, 4 inches. Showers also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.2 seconds and in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.88.
