The Town of Camp Verde’s Housing Department is long gone, shut down a few years ago as part of an effort to reduce spending.
Regardless, residents of Camp Verde are still benefiting from some of the ground work laid down by that department.
A property owner on Robin Lane out in the Verde Lakes neighborhood just had his home replaced thanks to funding made available by the Town of Camp Verde.
“It’s great; it’s a good project,” Camp Verde Town Clerk Debbie Barber said. “It’s a used mobile home, but it’s way nicer than what was there.”
The town was able to get the owner improved electrical and septic service too, Barber said.
“He’s really happy about it.”
It was an emergency situation, Barber said, as the owner’s previous home was slated for condemnation.
The money is part of a program that provides potential funding from the federal and state governments, in part from the HOME Investment Partnership Program, set up by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
