Sovereign chronicles her life’s most trying times

Published:

Some people have lives that inspire others to say, “You should write a book.”

Ina Gesell Sovereign is one of those people.

Sovereign’s 200-page memoir “The Potter and the Clay: Surviving Life’s Hardest Blows with Faith and a Smile” chronicles her trying family life, travels to exotic parts of the world and spiritual growth.

On April 4, she read passages from her book to an audience at the Cottonwood Public Library.

“My life has been ups and downs, but there hasn’t been a lot of the middle,” she said.

Sovereign began her reading with a passage describing the “defining moment” of her life, the loss of her son Howard, who was struck and killed by a car as a child.
