Second Team
Kayla Hackett, senior, position player
Jacy Finley, freshman, pitcher

Honorable Mention
Madison Johnson, senior, position player

Typically a team that makes it to the semifinals of the state tournament lands at least one first team selection. But despite not having any, softball head coach Henry Smith was satisfied. At the beginning of the season he tabbed Hackett and Johnson to be leaders, a role each filled well and helped them earn the honor.

“The girls selected definitely earned it,” Smith said. “It comes down to stats and how everyone performs in the tournament. Either way it’s tough, there’s not many spots.

“For Jacy to come in as a freshman and get selected, it’s a pretty big deal.”

On the other hand, the baseball team lost in the first round, but Howe still made first team.

“That says how special of a player he is and he deserves to be a first team player,” Cowboys head coach Will Davis said.

As for Braden and Zale, Davis believes that if the team had gone farther, they would have been on the first team.
