Cottonwood kids are getting their kicks at Riverfront Park this week.

British Soccer Camp coach Dan Walmsley gets down at eye level with a group of kids at the camp Tuesday, July 30 at Riverfront Park in Cottonwood. The most popular soccer camp in the country — The British Soccer Camp — is back again this summer, showing kids from 3 to 16 years of age about the game of soccer, and teaching them skills they can use at any level of competition.

More than 1,200 of the camp’s coaches have helped to develop one of the most innovative approaches to coaching youth soccer in the United States.

Their experienced staff studies the game at all levels, and they have identified the key techniques and skills that players need to work on and master to reach their true potential, according to the camp’s website.

The camps are divided up into four age groups:

■ First Kicks is for 3- and 4-year-olds and shows the youngsters a fun way to learn the very basic elements of the game.

■ Minisoccer is for 4- to 6-year-olds and teaches fundamentals, including fun activities and small-sided games.

■ Half-Day Camps are for 6- to 16-year-olds and emphasize the development of individual skills and techniques.

■ Full-Day Camps are for 10- to 18-year-olds and are for serious players, focusing on advanced techniques and tactical development.
