As fall leads into winter, the Mingus Union High School swimmers will lead into a boys basketball team with one strong element in common — a new head coach.

Dave Beery, right, the new head coach of the Mingus Union High School boys basketball team, talks with potential players in the program at his first open gym, held May 16 at MUHS. Beery was hired after winning 59 games and two sectional titles in three seasons at Grand Canyon High School.
Gretchen Wesbrock, a youth mentor and trainer with the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District, was hired as new Marauders swimming coach, while ex-Grand Canyon High School head boys basketball coach David Beery became the new leader of the Marauders boys basketball team after his official hire Tuesday, May 27.
