The Camp Verde Planning and Zoning Commission has been working on adopting “character areas” for the town, places where planning is considered based on a particular area’s identity and feel.Planning and Zoning recently met to discuss how to define Camp Verde’s downtown area. This includes the Historic Downtown section, where Fort Verde lies. A subcommittee was formed to focus on character development.

Such places include areas like the Pecan Lane area along Montezuma Castle Highway, the State Route 260 corridor, Finnie Flat Road, Middle Verde and the area along Quarterhorse Lane.

A subcommittee made of local residents has been meeting to help discuss the vision behind these character areas and other possible development in Camp Verde.
