Mingus students enter art show

Over the weekend, the public was welcome to view art as varied and high-quality as some professional galleries. From a cat with steampunk head gear to a photograph of a student holding a $Victoria DuCharme, of Mingus Union High School, holds her painting that won a second place ribbon in mixed media on Saturday, April 26, for the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society’s Student Art Show at Sedona Red Rock High School. The show, in its 24th year, brought in 491 pieces of art from 12 schools from Flagstaff and the Verde Valley.9 bill with President Barack Obama’s face, these works not only expressed creativity but gave a voice to the artists’ values. 

This art show, though, was put on by students throughout the Verde Valley at Sedona Red Rock High School’s cafeteria.

The 24th annual Northern Arizona Student Art Show, hosted by the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, ran from Saturday, April 26, to Sunday, April 27, culminating in an awards ceremony for those recognized specifically in the show.

Twelve schools participated in the event and the cafeteria was packed with all different media, both 2D and 3D.
