The town of Clarkdale is drawing attention to recent growth in the commercial sector downtown and in other areas.New business owners Mike Gilmour and wife Lee Shutt are currently remodeling the inside of a storefront on 10th Street in Clarkdale. It will become half an Italian light café and half a knick-knack store. They hope to be open within a month or sooner.

“Clarkdale is enjoying a resurgence of commercial activity, with new businesses moving to town and old favorites expanding and going strong,” reported Beth Escobar, senior planner with the Clarkdale Community Development Department.

The report highlighted the opening of the Corner Gallery, which opened in August on Main Street as a place for local artists to display and sell their work.
