Camp Verde has its share of big events, from Cornfest to Fort Verde Days.Sgt. Oscar Berrelez, of the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, was one of two officers from Camp Verde who worked security at Super Bowl XLIX. Taking K-9 officer Claymore along, the officers joined agencies from all over the state for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.​

The Town of Camp Verde received a clean audit for the 2013-14 fiscal year.Camp Verde received a clean report in its annual town audit. Mike Showers is the town’s finance director, and oversaw the process. ​

The fiscal year ended June 30. The results of the audit were reviewed by the Town Council at a Jan. 21 meeting.

Scott Wood knows a little something about Arizona’s past.Newly retired archaeologist J. Scott Wood came to the Verde Valley Archaeology Center for a private lecture to members of the center. Wood was the lead archeologist for the Tonto National Forest, and brought with him samples of the pottery found there, made by the Hohokam.

Until recently, Wood was an archaeologist for the Tonto National Forest, a position he held for 40 years.
