Local town hall eyes economy

Published:

Last November, leaders and thinkers from around the state gathered near the Grand Canyon for the 105th Arizona Town Hall.

The town halls are held to bring people together to look at issues and solutions for Arizona on any variety of important topics.

With the state and the rest of the nation working to recover from the recession, the focus of the most recent town hall was on the economy.

Last week, some of the town hall attendees met at Yavapai College in Clarkdale to talk locally about ideas that could help the economy, here in the Verde Valley and beyond.

“The rural economy is important,” Yavapai College President Penny Wills said. “There’s a link between education and economic development.”

Tara Jackson, current Arizona Town Hall president, said that the town hall was not-for-profit and non-partisan.

“Our goal is to make Arizona a better place,” Jackson said.
