Following the success of the first-ever Art Walk in Camp Verde on Oct. 18, the Camp Verde Artists Group is planning the second event for Dec. 20. It promises to bring together fine artists, businesses and the community in a joyous celebration of local fine art excellence.
As it is being held close to the holidays, visitors can look forward to relaxing while strolling Main Street to visit the local businesses hosting the artists. This is the ideal moment to add a new art piece and make your home inviting for the holidays. It also gives you a chance to purchase one-of-a-kind hand-created art as gifts.
The artist members of the Camp Verde Artists Group who will be participating are Charla Young, Christi Watcher, Debora Christy Love, Jeni O’Callaghan, Joshua Smith, Mary Rush, Rebekah Sage and Vickie Berg with works in the genres of drawing, dress design, painting, sculpture and jewelry. Mary Rush, the group’s founder, says she will match the artists with local Main Street businesses to host their art.
The local businesses hosting the artwork will be Astoria International Bistro, Country Sage Boutique, Main Street Studios, Mystic Muse, Silver Jewel Studios, Verde Massage and Wingfield Plaza.
“We celebrate our first anniversary as an artists’ group on Dec. 18,” Rush said. “This art walk will mark a milestone in our evolution as a group. The monthly event is our cultural contribution to the community. We heard many positive comments during the first art walk and people thanked us for this event. They have been thirsty for this type of experience in Camp Verde. We want to continue inspiring our community and visitors from surrounding towns.”
Future art walks are planned for the third Fridays of October, November, December, March, April and May.
“The Camp Verde Artists Group is becoming a unified whole of artists who know more about each other as our first year progressed forward,” Rush said. “We invite the community to help us celebrate art and our group’s first anniversary. The businesses that are hosting us have our utmost appreciation. We’ve become much more familiar with our local businesses and I’m sure the businesses have become much more aware of the artists. Please stop by the art walk and stroll down Main Street.”
The art walk will take place on Dec. 20, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. along Main Street from one end to the other. Put on your walking shoes and visit.
