Yavapai College is exploring the possibility of creating a board of residents from the Verde Valley to advise the college’s governing board.
Camp Verde Councilwoman Carol German said she had listened to the idea at a meeting with college officials.
“There was a strong feeling … of leaving the Verde Valley out,” German said.
German said there was a sense of the Verde Valley not being adequately consulted and a general lack of communication perceived by some.
The feeling of the Verde Valley being left out arose with some folks after the most recent 10-year plan for the college was released, giving 98 percent to campuses on the other side of Mingus Mountain.
A report considered by the college last year reportedly predicts that Yavapai County’s population will grow by 23 percent in the next 10 years, with most of the increase centered in Prescott Valley.
