The Camp Verde Town Council this month denied a request from Town Marshal Nancy Gardner to reside in Munds Park. This week, the council will look again at potentially allowing the marshal to claim residency in the small community between Camp Verde and Flagstaff.
Gardner has bought a home in Munds Park, but the town code requires that its chief law enforcement officer lives inside town limits.
Gardner currently rents a home in Camp Verde.
The code does permit for the council to waive the residency requirement.
The Town Council voted 3-2 to allow Gardner to live outside of the town, with Vice-Mayor Jackie Baker and Councilwoman Carol German opposed.
