German swipes Camp Verde mayor’s seat from Burnside

Published:

Charlie German will be the next mayor of Camp Verde after winning the election March 12.

With just under 36 percent of registered voters filling out their mail-in ballots, German defeated two-term incumbent Mayor Bob Burnside by 241 votes, 1,086 to 845, or just over 56 percent of votes cast, according to the Yavapai County Elections office. There were six write-in votes for the two-year term position.

Late last week, German was busy continuing his involvement with the library, helping to prepare the old Rio Verde Plaza as a location where book sales can be held each month.

“I’m pretty excited about it,” German said of his win. “I’ve been out in the community and the reaction is encouraging.”
