Bowhunters club attracts archers and families

Published:

The Rim Country Bow-hunters Association took a hobby and has made it into a family-orientated club.

The archery club, located in the Verde Valley, meets once a week to practice target shooting and prepare for competitions during the spring and fall leagues.

The club started in 1992 when eight bowhunters decided to start an archery club. After starting out in an indoor place for shooting at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds, the group got its own outdoor range on U.S. Forest Service property on Cherry Road in Cottonwood. As the group grew, it turned into a nonprofit organization and most recently filed as a 501(c)(3) organization so it can give out scholarships every April to help a senior or current college student with their education.
