School safety becomes top priority

Published:

In the wake of the tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn., which left 20 children and seven adults dead, parents across the country have turned their thoughts to the safety of their own children as they attend school day in and day out. The recent shooting has left law enforcement in a state of heightened alert when it comes to school safety.

A 22-year-old man was arrested Dec. 19 and charged with disorderly conduct and disruption of a school following an incident at Rimrock High School.

To help address fear, the Camp Verde Unified School District is working with the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office to make sure local schools are as prepared as they can be should such a previously-unthinkable event take place close to home.
