Expect delays at Cordes Junction on I-17 this week

Published:

Arizona Department of Transportation crews work overnight next week at Cordes Junction on Interstate 17, with intermittent highway closures up to 30 minutes, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday, June 25.

Crews will shift northbound traffic through a work zone on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction next week, according to ADOT. The traffic shift and work in the median will require lane restrictions throughout the week.

The following restrictions and closures will be in place next week:

? Monday, June 25, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.: Intermittent northbound I-17 closures up to 30 minutes will allow crews to shift traffic through the bridge work zone.

? Monday, June 25, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Alternating lane restrictions will be in place on northbound I-17 to allow crews to move traffic through the bridge work zone

? Tuesday through Thursday, June 26 to 28, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Left lane restrictions will be in place in both directions of I-17 to allow for median work.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
