Missing man found dead

Published:

On Saturday, August 13, 2011 Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue personnel re-initiated the search for missing person Michael Snarski, reported missing last week.

During the search, a deceased male subject was located on the South Road approximately 20 miles south of Williams.

Search and Rescue volunteers including a cadaver dog began the search off the South Road in the area where Snarski was last thought to have been.

Snarski’s vehicle had been located abandoned on July 24, 2011 with a note inside indicating he had gone on a “vision quest.”  A subsequent investigation did not locate Snarski.

On Saturday, the cadaver dog led searchers to the deceased body of a male who was seated on a blanket under a tree.

An autopsy was performed today by the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, and a cause of death has yet to be determined.

Sheriff’s detectives and the Coconino CountyMedical Examiner’s Office have tentatively identified the body as that of Snarski, a 43-year-old man from Thornton, Colo.
