Freudenthal wins award

Cottonwood Police Chief Brian Freudenthal was awarded the city of Cottonwood 2025 Supervisor / Manager of the Year.

The honor was voted on by city leadership and reflects feedĀ­back from both city management and members of the Cottonwood Police Department.

Since assuming command of CPD on Nov. 12, 2024, Freudenthal has guided the CPD through a period of organizaĀ­tional transition while maintaining operational readiness, officer morale and high professional standards, according to the city. He has demonĀ­strated a strong commitment to mission-driven policing by actively engaging personnel at all levels, valuing officer input and implementing strategic improveĀ­ments that enhance efficiency, accountability and service to the community.

Freudenthal leads with a balanced command philosophy, combining decisiveness with approachability, the city stated, and he continually evaluates policies, procedures and long-standing practices through a modern law enforcement lens, ensuring alignment with best practices, community expectations and the city’s strategic priorities.

His leadership is marked by clear commuĀ­nication, collaborative decision-making and sound judgment, particĀ­ularly during high-stress or critical discussions, the city stated. Even in challenging situations, Freudenthal maintains a calm, analytical approach that promotes effective problem-solving and unified command.

Through his leadership, the department remains focused on officer wellness, professional development and proactive policing, while keeping the safety and best interests of the Cottonwood community at the forefront.
