The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide following a shooting near the intersection of Del Rio Drive and State Route 260 in Cottonwood.
Deputies arrived and found medical crews providing life-saving care to an adult male victim. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced deceased.
So far, the investigation indicates the incident began after the victim and the suspect — identified as 53-year-old Henry James Greer of the Verde Villages — parked their vehicles next to each other on Del Rio Drive. At which point, the victim, Greer, and Greer’s passenger got out of their vehicles, and a physical altercation ensued. During the confrontation, Greer produced a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the victim twice.
Following the initial investigation, YCSO detectives arrested Greer on a charge of First-Degree Homicide.
This remains an active investigation as detectives continue to process evidence and gather witness statements. No additional information is available at this time.
