Flinn-Brown Fellowship names Regnar champion of civil leadership

The Arizona Center for Civic Leadership named Clarkdale resident Janet Regner as its 2025 Northern Arizona Champion during its annual convention on Aug. 14 and 15. The nonpartisan Arizona Center for Civic Leadership at the Flinn Foundation enhances civic life in Arizona through civic education, engagement and leadership- development programs. The prestigious Flinn-Brown Fellowship is an immersive experience for community leaders from diverse backgrounds.

Presented by 2024 Northern Arizona Champion, 2018 Flinn-Brown Fellow Kate Morley, executive director of Flagstaff’s MetroPlan, Regner’s award came with these words of recognition: “The 2025 Northern Arizona Champion exemplifies a deep commitment to public service through both professional and personal endeavors. She volunteers for community projects, serves on a variety of local and state boards and commissions, and holds elected office. She is a fierce advocate for rural and underserved communities. Her high ethical standards have earned the respect of policymakers and leaders across sectors. Passionate, active, and vocal on key issues, she continually seeks opportunities to make a positive impact. She demonstrates a steadfast commitment to ethics and civility, building consensus and problem-solving with diverse individuals to develop innovative solutions that benefit all Arizonans. Please join me in congratulating the winner of the Arizona Champion award, representing the northern region of our state — 2017 Flinn-Brown Fellow The Honorable Janet Regner.”

Regnard is former executive director of the Arizona Community Action Association; senior partner of Husk Partners, which conducted oversight of social and senior services for Coconino County; Coconino County Community Services Department director; a senior consultant for the Arizona Supreme Court; and is currently a consultant with the Regnar Group.

Flinn-Brown Fellows are experienced civic leaders from tribal, rural and urban communities across Arizona. Fellows represent sectors of Arizona’s economy from industry and business to nonprofit and government; are recognized experts in their fields; and possess diverse perspectives, political positions and policy experience. Fellows engage in rich discussions with policymakers and political experts; join a robust professional network; and gain understanding of how to address Arizona’s most pressing issues through public service.
