Cliff Castle Casino Hotel proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades as a beloved destination for entertainment, hospitality and community connection in the heart of the Verde Valley. Since opening its doors in 1995, Cliff Castle has grown from a modest casino tucked into a banquet room to a full-service resort and a pillar of the region — a transformation cherished by day-one guests and Castle Club members Crystal and Mike Tucker.

“We were thrilled when Cliff Castle first opened,” Crystal Tucker said, who has been a Castle Club member since day one. “I was a gambler and excited to finally have a casino in our area. It brought jobs, entertainment and so many wonderful memories.”

The couple recalls their early days with deep nostalgia — from Crystal starring in a self-written commercial promoting Cliff Castle as the number one casino in the state, to the pair taking home first prize in a talent show as dancing California Raisins.

“We rocked the Dragonfly Lounge that night,” Crystal said. “It was one of our favorite memories.”

“We’ve always felt welcomed here,” Mike Tucker said. “The people, the experiences, the special occasions we’ve celebrated — it’s all a part of our story. Storytellers is our go-to spot for special occasions — the atmosphere, the ambiance, the people — it all just feels personal. After over 40 years living in Camp Verde, it’s become a place full of great memories for us.”

Both Crystal and Mike Tucker have witnessed the evolution of Cliff Castle first-hand, from its original location off Montezuma Castle Highway to the property it is today.

“The move up the hill and the new hotel really brought it to a whole new level,” Mike Tucker said. “It’s modern, stylish and still carries that unique personality that keeps us coming back.”

To commemorate 30 years of loyalty and local pride, the casino is spotlighting long-time members like the Tuckers and thanking the community that helped build its success, the casino stated.

“This anniversary is about more than just our past — it’s about the people who’ve been with us every step of the way,” general manager of Cliff Castle Casino Hotel James Thomason said. “We’re honored by the loyalty of members like Crystal and Mike and we’re grateful to every guest who has made Cliff Castle a part of their lives. Our success is a reflection of the relationships we’ve built and we look forward to creating even more memories in the years ahead.”

As part of the celebration, Cliff Castle will continue to recognize long-time guests and offer special promotions throughout the year, ensuring the spirit of appreciation and community remains at the heart of the property.
