The Camp Verde Town Council unanimously approved the town’s fiscal year 2026 capital improvement plan during its June 4 meeting.
The plan includes $78,461,355 in proposed expenditures over five years, including $40.9 million in FY26 expenditures. $2.87 million is budgeted to complete phase one of the Sports Complex Park with six baseball fields, two all-purpose fields, several pickleball courts, a walking trail, a disc golf course and a fishing pond.
Another $7.6 million is budgeted for the water fund over the next two years, including $1.6 million for arsenic removal systems at two wells, $2 million for replacement of the main Mongini well and $2 million for a storage tank and pump station for the Verde Commercial location. $6 million of the total will be funded by federal grants and the remainder by debt financing.
Other capital items in the plan included:
- $12 million for the Main Street reconstruction project
- $5 million for Finnie Flat Road and State Route 260 road improvements
- $5 million for Finnie Flat Road and Montezuma Castle Highway curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements
- $1.66 million for an ongoing replacement project for the water main system
- $1.2 million for the development of two new wells
- $900,305 to repair erosion issues at the Dickinson Circle area
- $800,000 for a Shincci sludge dryer and improvements to the septage receiving station
- $800,000 for repairs and improvements to the town pool
- $750,000 for chip sealing on town streets
- $664,800 for a Verde Lakes Drive sidewalk
Fisher said that the town’s buildings were also in need of a new sprinkler system that was planned to be moved up from FY27 at a cost of $150,000.
“There is an urgency needed,” Fisher said. “If you go into Director Ken Krebbs’ office, you see this pipe is just truly eroding on itself and so having to kind of flip priorities.”
$1.3 million in funding for phase two of the Sports Complex will be pushed to FY28. “We do need a little bit of time to kind of get through the current design,” Fisher said.
The council approved the plan unanimously.
