Yavapai County to replace jail roof for $414K

Yavapai County Jail Camp Verde

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $414,763.84 contract with Progressive Services Inc. to replace the roof of the Yavapai County Detention Center in Camp Verde during their May 7meeting.

“This is another kind of critical nature, more of protecting assets,” Facilities Director Brandon Shoults said. “Not so much life safety as we were just talking about before, just kind of a normal roof replacement cycle for us.” County staff told the board that two areas of the jail roof have been repaired with TPO laminate fabric and that the roofs on towers three and four were reaching the end of their lifespans and need to be replaced to prevent additional repair costs.

“This product here actually comes with a 20-yearwarranty, and I sat down with my staff, and we thought long and hard about it and did some research and kicked it around, and we said, well, what’s the difference, what are we looking for, and we really came down to one thing: A 20-year warranty,” Shoults said.

“It’s the exact same warranty that the TPO offers. We should have the exact same protection.

“We’ll have the exact same coverage, and so it seemed like a great opportunity to not only take care of the roofs that were budgeted for, but we’re also able to extend those savings to a roof that we were looking to budget for in this coming fiscal year.”
