2 arrested for meth on I-17

Published:

Dale Grant and Robert Weber were contacted by the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office during a traffic stop for civil violations around 8:24 p.m. on April 4, along I-17 northbound near State Route 260.

During the stop, K-9 Gunner was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle and displayed a positive alert. A search of the vehicle yielded a small, useable amount of methamphetamine.

While in the backseat of a patrol car, Weber allegedly attempted to destroy a large amount of methamphetamine — approximately 59.5 grams — he had concealed in his pants.

Grant was transported to the Yavapai County Detention Center in Camp Verde on numerous drug charges. Weber was transported to Verde Valley Medical Center after he stated he had eaten some of the methamphetamine and was booked the following day.

Bomb Threat

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 9, CVMO deputies responded to the McDonald’s restaurant located at 1703 W. State Route 260 to a report of a possible bomb on the property or an explosion. CVMO deputies quickly closed down the area, investigated the scene and found that the bomb threat was not credible and no explosion had taken place.
