Third-place Teague losing ground to Nevarez in Mingus Union school board race

Published:

There are six candidates running for three seats on the Mingus Union High School District Governing Board: James Ariola, Taylor Bell, Ashley Koepnick, Rev. Frank Nevarez, incumbent Carol Anne Teague and Joe Wegwert, Ph.D.

Koepnick has a substantial lead in the race. Bell has the second-most number of votes.

The race for the third seat is still up in the air. Teague initially has the second-most number of votes, based on early voting tablulated in the hours after polls closed, but as day-of votes are tablulated, she has slipped in to third place and now only has a narrow lead over Nevarez.

Ballot drops on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and Thursday, Nov. 7, have significantly favored Nevarez over Teague, while adding more to the lead of Koepnick and Bell.
