Cottonwood hires new police chief, Brian Freudenthal

Published:

The city of Cottonwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Freudenthal as its next chief of police. With over 28 years of law enforcement experience, the majority of which has been in Arizona, Freudenthal brings a wealth of knowledge to the position.

Freudenthal was commander of the Downtown Operations Unit for the Phoenix Police Department.

During the extensive recruitment process, it became evident that Freudenthal possesses not only the necessary experience and skills but also a genuine passion for serving the community. His humble servant leadership style aligns well with the city’s values, and we look forward to the expertise he will bring to the department.

Freudenthal holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and has progressed through various roles, including patrol, drug enforcement, tactical response units, public affairs, recruiting, human trafficking prevention and employee wellness. He also has significant experience in collaborating with partners to develop long-term solutions for homelessness.

Freudenthal is expected to start in early November.
