Candidate: Robert Foreman, Camp Verde resident of 32 years

Age: 71

Current or past profession: “Town of Camp Verde building official, safety official, code official retired. Currently contract hearing officer city of Cottonwood, P&Z Commissioner Town of Camp Verde.”

Q: Why are you qualified to serve on council?

A: “Thirty-plus years of community involvement. Business owner, Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce president, Kiwanis, T-ball coach, chairman Board of Appeals. Worked on the 2006 General Plan as Planning and Zoning chairman. The 2016 General Plan as building official. Currently working on the 2026 General Plan as Planning and Zoning Commissioner. APS Focused Future, and probably some other stuff I forget. Vietnam veteran.”

Q: How would you help advise the completion of the Camp Verde Sports Complex?

A: “First became involved with a study by Northern Arizona University, I believe about 1997. Use my knowledge of the Public Works Department and Community Development Department and building and construction to track and help direct progress. Use my experience with town budgets to keep an eye on the money. Cooperate and consult with all volunteer groups.”

Q: How do you plan to balance growth while maintaining Camp Verde’s rural and Western lifestyle?

A: “Follow the past two general plans. The idea since incorporation has been for sensible development along the I-17 and 260 corridors while maintaining the rural environment in the rest of the community.”

Q: What is your vision for economic development in Camp Verde?

A: “Reasonable, smart, thoughtful development with a very watchful eye on water conservation and night sky protection. My professional background and volunteer background gives me considerable common sense on what does and does not work.”

Q: What kind of direction would you give to the incoming town manager?

A: “Maintain the council-manager system of municipal government. Devote considerable effort to downtown revitalization.”
