Gorgey to find Camp Verde’s town manager

Published:

The Camp Verde Town Council selected the recruitment firm Columbia Ltd. to recruit the town’s next manager during its Jan. 3 meeting.

Town staff recommended that the town contract with an executive recruitment firm that has specialty experience in recruiting town and city managers.

The council viewed proposals from four different recruitment firms with experience in Arizona: Duffy Group, Raftelis, Columbia Ltd. and SGR. The council then selected Columbia Ltd to serve as their recruitment firm in this process.

Andrew Gorgey founded the company in 2016. In his letter of interest to the council, he stated that he has successfully completed city and town manager recruitments for Flagstaff, Chino Valley, Prescott and Prescott Valley.

“I have a particular interest in, and familiarity with, Arizona, specifically north central Arizona,” Gorgey said in the letter.

Gorgey has experience as a county manager, city manager, county attorney and district counsel.

“The best examples of my recruiting work are the current managers around you,” Gorgey said at the council meeting, adding that he had done a significant amount of recruiting in Yavapai County.

He described the region as Arizona’s sweet spot and said that with his Arizona experience, he is able to effectively communicate that culture and environment to potential town managers.

Gorgey said his first step would be to meet the council and immerse himself in Camp Verde’s culture to find out what they’re looking for in their town manager, followed by a research stage and a candidate profile document listing the candidates he would recommend to council for review.
