P&Z OKs new 8-unit complex

The Cottonwood Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a design review and conditional use permit for a new eight-unit apartment complex on the corner of East Cherry Street and South 14th Street. The Cottonwood Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a design review and conditional use permit for a proposed eight-unit apartment complex during its Dec. 18 meeting. 

The proposed complex would be located on 0.49 acres at 1351 E. Cherry Street, across the street from the San Cipriano Apartments, with which it will be associated. The site is currently zoned C-2 heavy commercial, which requires a conditional use permit to allow construction of multi-family housing. 

The proposed design would locate the eight units in two buildings with an attached management office and include 17 parking spots, eight of which would be garages. Each unit is planned to be 1,300 square feet with three bedrooms and 2½ baths. 

“I think that this is really good infill, especially considering that we previously approved the other part of the project,” Chairwoman Lindsay Masten said. “It’s nice seeing this particular part of the city become more mixed-use … I look forward to seeing more multifamily housing.”
