Carol-Jean Lawdermilk Perez, of Cottonwood, died Aug. 4.
Born in Chula Vista, Calif., she married Jesse Perez, Jr. in 1967. She loved calling Cottonwood her home, and deeply loved her dogs and cats. She was fond of horses, tending to her garden and John Wayne cowboy movies.
She is survived by one dog, three cats and a 13 year-old chicken.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
