The Cottonwood City Council members interviewed 12 applicants for the vacant council seat during their meeting on May 8 and one later by phone.

After accepting the resignation of former Councilwoman Tosca Henry on April 18, the council established a process to select and interview candidates to fill the seat until the conclusion of the fall 2024 election cycle.

Those who met the basic qualifications were interviewed on May 8, including Christopher Brown, Jesse Dowling, Lisa Ehlers, James Glascott, Al Hilberger, Derek Palosaari, Catherine Ransom, Bob Rothrock, William Wagnon, George Gehlert, Judy Cowan and Mike Cosentino. Alek Gradijan was interviewed by phone on May 15.

Candidates were required to be 18 years old and qualified electors residing within the city for at least one year prior to appointment.

At the May 9 council meeting, members agreed to name the new city hall building the Cottonwood Municipal Center.
