Supervisors OK Roundabout

Published:

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors approved funding for a roundabout and a new lift station at its meeting on Feb. 1.

The board approved the execution of public utilities and temporary construction easements for a new wastewater lift station in Cottonwood.

The board had previously approved the sale of a parcel of land off East Mingus Avenue to the city of Cottonwood in October 2022 as the future site for the lift station.

Cottonwood’s current facility is reaching its maximum capacity.

Within the easement area the city will be permitted to construct, install, operate and expand underground delivery and distribution lines, telemetering and communications equipment and other utility facilities, including water and sewer lines.

The board also approved an increase in the funds allocated for the roundabout construction at the intersection of Cornville Road and Tissaw Road in order to cover additional professional engineering and design services. These will include investigating the effects on traffic during the construction phase of the project. The engineers will also provide designs for temporary paving during construction.

Public works staff believe temporary detours will be needed during construction to keep the two-way traffic flow consistent, but felt these additions were necessary in order to maintain effective traffic flow during the construction of the roundabout.
